Latest version of software media server delivers enhanced NFV and AWS features, along with important recording enhancements
Parsippany, NJ (November 14, 2016) - Dialogic, a cloud-optimized applications and infrastructure solutions provider for service providers, enterprises, and developers, announced today the general availability of Dialogic® PowerMedia® XMS Release 3.2. PowerMedia XMS 3.2 is a significant upgrade of the company’s media server/media resource function (MRF), delivering key capabilities for NFV (Network Function Virtualization) and AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud deployments, and accelerating adoption across network operator, over-the-top (OTT), and enterprise markets.
Addressing cloud virtualization needs of network operators, XMS 3.2 includes a number of Network Function Virtualization (NFV) deployment enhancements, including support for OpenStack orchestration. As part of the release, XMS 3.2 includes a package of OpenStack HEAT maps, simplifying high availability and redundant deployments. A new documentation kit details the process of deploying PowerMedia XMS and associated Dialogic® PowerMedia® Media Resource Broker (MRB) in a high-availability composite Virtualized Network Function (VNF), complying with ETSI NFV architecture recommendations.
“With this release of PowerMedia XMS 3.2, we continue to demonstrate our dedication to cloud infrastructure with further investment in NFV and AWS deployments,” said Jim Machi, Senior VP Product Management and Marketing at Dialogic.
Addressing the needs of the OTT operators and enterprise deployments, XMS 3.2 includes a number of optimizations and performance enhancements for deployments in AWS. With support for both RedHat and Centos, XMS 3.2 offers greater operating system selection flexibility in AWS deployments.
“Deployment of PowerMedia XMS on Amazon Web Services is an important part of our WebRTC-based PBX business,” said Moshe Maeir, Founder of fone.do. “By utilizing XMS on AWS, we can more easily scale our business without the cost and overhead of dedicated hardware.”
XMS 3.2 has made significant media recording enhancements with the inclusion of Multi-Track Recording (MTR), enabling new contact center, financial service, and public safety applications. With MTR, applications have the option to identify and select individual session media streams, recording each stream in separate media tracks, facilitating complex post call processing, word spotting, or cognitive analysis.
“We’re looking forward to XMS 3.2 and the Multi-Track Recording capabilities, a paramount feature that will provide our voice recording capabilities with mechanisms that meet the logging requirements for ‘mission critical’ operations,” said Tor Lundgren, Strategic Product Manager of Product Division Public Safety & Security at Carmenta CoordCom AB.
