Interconnect Session Border Controller (I-SBC) addresses the boundary requirements where service provider networks interconnect and exchange inbound and outbound SIP sessions. It integrates three IMS functional elements (related to the 3GPP Release 8); Interconnect Border Control Function (IBCF), Inter-Working Function (IWF), and Transition Gateway (TrGW).
Advantages of I-SBC is hardened security for network protection, interworking flexibility and interoperability, scalability and optimization of data center resources.
