Provides Fax Server Support for Microsoft® Exchange Server
Unified Messaging
Parsippany, New Jersey - July 12, 2010 - Dialogic Corporation ("Dialogic"), a global provider of world-class products and technologies for multimedia and signal processing, today announced next generation fax engine support for Microsoft Fax Service, a basic fax server application that is offered as a standard feature of Windows® operating systems. While Dialogic® Brooktrout® Fax Boards have powered Microsoft Fax Service for close to a decade, Dialogic® Brooktrout® SR140 Fax Software is now available for use with this Microsoft application. Brooktrout SR140 is a leading Fax over IP (FoIP) platform for fax server applications built upon the time tested fax protocols developed for the market segment leading Brooktrout fax board product lines. The updated Dialogic® Fax Service Provider Software simplifies the integration and deployment of the solution set.
New with the SR140-based solution is the ability to provide integrated support for Exchange Server Unified Messaging. As Microsoft Corp. continues to build a leadership position in unified communications, Unified Messaging has become a popular component of Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010, displacing traditional voice mail systems by adding voice messaging to the market leading e-mail server. Exchange Server 2010 also supports fax messaging, but it requires a separate fax server application and fax engine to handle the creation of the fax. The combined SR140 and Microsoft fax solution provides a simple and cost effective means for unified communications resellers and system integrators to fulfill a need for unified messaging with fax.
"Microsoft is making great strides in the unified communications market and partners, including Dialogic, provide technologies to complement our solutions," said Ankur Kothari, Exchange Server Sr. Technical Product Manager at Microsoft Corp. "The combination of Dialogic Brooktrout SR140 Fax Software and our own Microsoft Fax Service application adds a fax component to the unified messaging solution in Exchange Server 2010."
Its flexibility makes the solution set easy to deploy as well. The fax server application can be physically deployed co-resident with Exchange Server, on a separate application server, or integrated with a Dialogic® 4000 Media Gateway (DMG4000 gateway). DMG4000 gateways are well suited to host the fax server, as they were specifically designed for use with unified communications applications such as Microsoft Exchange Server Unified Messaging, Microsoft Office Communications Server, and the upcoming release of Microsoft Communications Server "14." The DMG4000 gateways provide an interface for the VoIP-based Microsoft unified communications applications to traditional circuit-switched voice services delivered by legacy PBX infrastructure and the PSTN.
"Dialogic has deep enabling technology roots in the communications industry and Microsoft has tapped into multiple areas to enable its software-based unified communications vision to become a reality," stated Franz-Josef Eberle, VP and GM of the Enterprise Market Group at Dialogic. "The versatility of Dialogic's fax and gateway products is a clear example of how that depth can bring more efficient solutions to our mutual enterprise customers."
Dialogic is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and a bronze sponsor, exhibiting in booth #327 at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Washington D.C. July 12th through 15th, 2010. The Microsoft Fax Service running on the Dialogic® Brooktrout SR140 Fax Software will be on exhibit along with a full complement of qualified unified communications solutions from Dialogic.
