WHO: Chunhua (Edward) Chen, video researcher at Dialogic® Media Labs (DML), a division of Dialogic Corporation ("Dialogic"), a global provider of world-class products and technologies for multimedia and signal processing. WHAT: At Pacific-Rim Conference on Multimedia (PCM), Chen will be presenting a paper titled "A Blind Reference-Free Blockiness Measure." He will discuss how video processing can have the unintended consequence of introducing blocking artifacts into the processed imagery, which is often visible and can reduce the perceived quality of an image. He will explain a "reference-free" method that can be used to measure the effect of this quality degradation.
