You might need to add or modify the following API messages to your application to implement H.323 functionality:

• Matrix Configure (0x007D)
Informs a CSP Matrix Series 3 Card about an IP Signaling Series 3 card. It sets up all of the information on the CSP Matrix Series 3 Card side to allow for the connection to the IP Signaling Series 3 card.

• Matrix Query (0x0097)
Sent by the Host to query details of set configuration data and the status of the IP Signaling Series 3 interface.

• IP Signaling Series 3 Card Configure (0x0100)
Inform the IP Signaling Series 3 card about a CSP Matrix Series 3 Card. It sets up all of the information on the IP Signaling Series 3 side that allows for the connection to the CSP Matrix Series 3 Card.

• IP Signaling Series 3 Card Query (0x0101)
Used by the host to query the details of the configuration data and the status of the IP Signaling Series 3 interface.

• IP Signaling Series 3 Card Status Report (0x0105)
This message is sent automatically (without being solicited) from the IP Signaling Series 3 card to the host in different scenarios. This scenario is generally caused by some Matrix interaction of which the host requires notification.

• IP Signaling Series 3 Card Host Poll (0x0104)
This message is sent automatically (without being solicited) from the IP Signaling Series 3 card to the host on a periodic basis to allow the host to monitor the status of the IP Signaling Series 3 card. The default poll interval is one second.

• VoIP Protocol Configure (0x00EE)
This message is used to configure H.323 and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) software.

• VoIP Protocol Query (0x00EF)
Use this message to query the VoIP configuration.

• Request For Service With Data (0x002D)
This message is used to report incoming calls from H.323 endpoints.

• Channel Released With Data (0x0069)
Used to include Network Protocol Data Intelligence (NPDI) Universal TLV for H.323 Release Code 0x27E3.

• Release Channel With Data (0x0036)
Used to include NPDI TLV for H.323 Release Code to reject an incoming H.323 call.

• PPL Event Request (0x0044)
For RAS PPL Component (0xa0) and H.245 PPL Component (0x0a2).

• PPL Event Indication (0x0043)
For RAS PPL Component (0xa0) and H.245 PPL Component (0x0a2).

Important! Please note that the Card Status Report message contains no card-specific or other hardware-specific information for the IP Signaling Series 3 card other than card type and status.

• Route Control (0x00E8)
Used to initiate an outseize on a channel. Replaces the Outseize Control message in existing applications.

Within the Route Control message you must specify the remote endpoint alias address by including the following TLV(s) in the NPDI Universal ICB:

• 0x27C2 Remote End Signaling IP Address
0x27C3 Remote End Signaling Port (Q.931) (optional)

If the CSP is registered with a gatekeeper, you do not need to include the IP address and port in the Route Control message.

ITU-T standard defines a set of call control, channel setup, and codec specifications for transmitting real-time voice and video over networks that do not offer guaranteed service or quality of service.

Internet Protocol. Part of the TCP/IP family of protocols used to route messages and tracks the addresses of nodes.

A computer, attached to the Excel platform through an RS-232 or Ethernet link, from which you run the telecommunications application that controls the Excel platform.

Voice over Internet Protocol. The delivery of voice information in digital form in discrete packets rather than in the traditional circuit-committed protocols of the public-switched telephone network (PSTN).

Session-Initiation Protocol. A signaling protocol used for establishing sessions in an IP network. A session could be a simple, two-way telephone call, or it could be a collaborative multi-media conference session.

RFS. A Status Message indicating that some entity is requesting service from the Excel platform.

Network Protocol Data Intelligence. Also called “Interworking,” it is a software product that operates within Excel’s Call Control (Layer 4) and Services (Layer 5) call processing layers. NPDI is meant to enhance Excel’s call processing product offering by allowing call processing layers (specifically Layers 4 and 5) to perform advanced analysis, generation, and conversion of Network Signaling (NS) Layer 3 information.

Tag-Length-Value block. A standardized block that allows data to inserted in a standard way into API messages.

The Registration, Admission, and Status messages communicated between two H.323 entities for example between an Endpoint and a Gatekeeper.

A programmable software component that uses PPL state machines that can be modified with the PPL Tool.

A condition that, when met, drives a state machine from one state to another. A condition that drives a Component out of its current state by invoking an associated primitive.

Outgoing call setup during real-time call processing on a specific channel.

A 32-bit address, used in IP routing, which includes a Network address identifier assigned by a central authority and a Host ID (an end station identifier assigned by a LAN administrator).

The point in the Excel platform where a DS0 connects to a network. Also known as a "socket."
