MTP3-to-Host

Purpose

This feature allows any of the SS7 User Parts to be resident in the host instead of the SS7 Series 3 card.

This feature can improve performance by removing the User Parts from the SS7 card. It also can enable future enhancments to the SS7 stack.

The host destination can be one of many destinations. You configure it using the appropriate PPL command. The MTP3 layer checks if a remote User Part is active and sends the message to the appropriate remote destination.

Prerequistes

This feature assumes that there is a workable User Part available in a remote host.

You first configure a normal SS7 stack and then turn off the local user parts.

You must download a license to enable the CSP to support this feature.

Interface to Host

The figure below shows the interface from the MTP3 layer to the remote SS7 User Parts on the host via the Excel API.
