Product Overview
What is Dialogic® Host Media Processing Software?
Host media processing is a technology used to perform media processing tasks on general-purpose standard-high-volume (SHV) servers with processors and does not require specialized digital signal processing (DSP) hardware. Host media processing technology provides media services that can be used to build flexible, scalable, and cost-effective next-generation media servers. Dialogic® Host Media Processing (HMP) software has been generally available since September 2002. It is a software-only building block for creating IP media servers for both enterprise and service provider businesses.
What operating systems does Dialogic® HMP support?
The most recent versions are Release 3.0 for Windows* and Release 4.1LIN. Release 3.0 runs on Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7. Release 4.1LIN runs on RedHat 5 Updates 4,5; RedHat 4, Update 7, 8; SUSE Professional 11. Both releases support 64-bit and 32-bit versions of operating systems.
Please refer to the release guide of the specific release for further information.

What are the benefits of Dialogic® HMP Software?
Because Dialogic® HMP is a software-only media-processing product for standard servers, costs are lower for procurement, development, deployment, and maintenance. Since Dialogic HMP is standards-based and does not require specialized hardware, solutions using the product are faster and easier to develop and deploy, easily scalable, and very flexible. Intel Dialogic HMP Software is also an ideal solution for developing media servers for the modular network. In an IP-only environment, no physical inventory must be stocked or shipped, and no onsite installation is necessary.
How is PSTN connectivity available for Dialogic® HMP Software-based solutions?
Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) connectivity for Dialogic® HMP solutions is available through Dialogic's media gateways offerings and through HMP Interface Boards that are available for both Windows and Linux. The gateway model enables a modular architecture with the media capability separate from the gateway. The network interface boards enable a single server solution that includes gateway capability and media.
Technology
What is new with Dialogic® Host Media Processing (HMP) Software Release 4.1LIN (also referred to herein as "HMP Release 4.1LIN" and "HMP 4.1LIN")?
Dialogic® is introducing Advanced Video Capability to its HMP Linux Platform. HMP 4.1LIN allows development of high density video and voice IP Multimedia server applications on software only platform. This release introduces:

Enhanced video bit rate controller
- Dialogic® Media Labs optimized Patent Pending video bitrate/framerate controller algorithm for mobile video. Improves bit rate conformance, AV synch and video bandwidth utilization
Higher Density
- Allows 5000 SIP signaling sessions on a single server
- Allows 248 advanced video sessions on a single server
- Allows 750 Low Bit Rate coders (G.723, G.729, AMR-NB*) on a single server
What is required to use 3G-324M?
To use 3G-324M, you will need a Basic RTP Streaming for 3G-324M Release 4 (NbUP) over IP or to use with a Dialogic® DNI board for 3G-324M Release 99 over TDM. AMR-NB is the audio codec for 3G-324M, so that is commonly used with G.723 being an alternate 3GPP codec.
I want to use AMR-NB or AMR-WB Coder, can I do that with HMP 4.1LIN?
HMP 4.1LIN can be used to transcode AMR-NB or AMR-WB coder; however, in order to have the right to practice this codec please contact Voiceage to license. As of the date this document was published, details on obtaining licensing terms could be found at: http://www.voiceage.com/amr_licterms.php
What processors does Dialogic® HMP support?
Dialogic® HMP supports and has been tested on various single and multi-core processors in uni-processor and multi-processor servers. Intel Xeon
